Mix all but the fruit in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Turn down to low.
Cut figs in quarters, peel and slice peaches, core and slice pears (skin on or off).
Place fruit in wine syrup and simmer gently until tender, about 15 minutes.
Turn off heat and let cool in liquid.
When cool, refrigerate until ready to use.
Serve cold or slightly warm over vanilla ice cream, shortcake or pound cake.
Makes enough for 6.
